Super typhoon Rai, known as Odette in the Philippines, struck the southern and central parts of the Philippines on December 16, 2021, leaving thousands of people homeless with their lives upended.
According to the Philippines Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, close to 2.5 million families have been affected and over half a million people have been evacuated and are waiting in temporary shelters and camps indefinitely. (Typhoon Rai/Odette made a destructive landfall in the following regions and provinces including Bohol, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, Southern Leyte, Cebu, Negros Oriental, and Palawan.)
Although there are international and locally-based non-government organizations currently providing aid, the destruction is enormous. It will take years to rebuild a community ravaged by disasters. In addition to losing homes and livelihoods, the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic also adds to the uncertainty of the future of the lives of the victims.
We are asking for your urgent support in addressing the immediate needs of the people affected by the devastation. Narra Foundation is raising funds to provide support to fund the ongoing relief efforts of local non-government organizations in affected areas.
Your donation in any amount will go toward supporting the ongoing relief and evacuation efforts and in the provision of food, water, health care, and hygiene needs.
You can make your contribution by writing a check to Narra Foundation and mailing it to P.O. Box 6415, Bloomington, In 47407. You may also donate using your credit card or via PayPal.
